Today’s fast-paced world can be stressful. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to come home to a relaxing spa experience, right in your own bathroom? Now you can, with a whirlpool bath with built-in chromatherapy lighting that lets you enjoy all the colors of the rainbow while relaxing in comfort.

Everyone knows how beneficial the hydrotherapy provided by a whirlpool bath can be, but when used in conjunction with chromatherapy, those benefits can be amplified. The underwater lights work to create either a constant color of your choice or a soothing sequence of colors. The thought behind chromatherapy is that certain colors help either stimulate or relax one’s senses, which helps reduce stress and promotes healing of mind and body.

Chromatherapy is based on an ancient form of Indian medicine called Ayurveda, which proposes that every living person contains earth, water, air, fire and space, or ether. According to Ayurveda, there are colors that accompany each of these elements, and keeping them in balance helps a person to stay well. Besides India, color therapy was also used in ancient Egyptian and Chinese medicine as well. It is believed that all of the colors of the spectrum promote specific healing:

  • Violet – Believed to sooth and relax organs and muscles, and promote a feeling of calm
  • Indigo – Also provides a soothing, calming effect
  • Blue – Believed to eliminate toxins in the body
  • Green – Believed to provide balance and promote antibacterial properties
  • Yellow – Considered a sensory stimulant good for decongesting and stimulating the digestive system
  • Orange – Believed to heighten pleasure and enthusiasm, and help with digestion
  • Red – Considered a stimulating and energizing color.

Whether or not you believe chromatherapy actually provides any of these benefits is entirely up to you, but one thing is certain – chromatherapy lighting in your whirlpool will provide you with a relaxing, beautiful experience. Some have compared it to modern candlelight in that it offers a soothing glow that makes your bath time more of a spa experience.
